Somaliland Recognition Is Closer Than Ever.

Somaliland stands on the threshold of a historic achievement as international recognition draws nearer than ever before. After more than three decades of peaceful self-governance, democratic elections, and stability, the world is beginning to acknowledge the undeniable reality of Somaliland’s independence.
In a significant development, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has formally introduced Somaliland’s new international dialling code: +259. This milestone represents an important step towards global recognition and a clear signal that Somaliland’s sovereignty is being acknowledged within international systems.
Adding to the momentum, the U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on 6 December 2025 on H.R. 3992 – The Republic of Somaliland Independence Act, introduced by Congressman Scott Perry and co-sponsored by Representatives Tiffany, Ogles, and Pat Harrigan. The proposed legislation calls for the United States to formally recognise the Republic of Somaliland as an independent nation.
These developments have ignited hope and pride among Somalilanders at home and across the diaspora. For a nation that has long demonstrated peace, democracy, and progress in one of the world’s most turbulent regions, recognition is both a moral and political imperative.
