In order to find a
lasting solution to the civil war in Sool, Somaliland, I propose a series of
actions that can be taken to address the situation. The first step would be for
the houses of parliament to call an immediate session in order to demand the
resignation of interim President Muse Bihi. If he refuses to resign, he should
be impeached for neglect of duty and crimes against humanity. In the meantime,
Vice President Saylici should be put in charge to ensure stability.
Once Saylici is in
charge, the military should be pulled out of LasAnood and meaningful dialogue
should be initiated with traditional leaders from Sool. This will help to build
trust and understanding between the different groups and pave the way for a
peaceful resolution to the conflict.
The next step would be
for all the political stakeholders in Somaliland to come together and agree on
a joint date for the Presidential election. This will help to bring an end to
the political instability in the country and allow for a new president and
three political parties to be elected.
Finally, it is
important to open the constitution to ensure that Sool and other regions have
equal rights to political influence and the resources of the country. This will
help to create a more inclusive and equitable society, where all citizens have
a voice and a stake in the future of the country.
By taking these steps,
Somaliland can once again become a beacon of democracy, progress, and stability
in the horn of Africa. It is my humble opinion that this process will help to
restore peace, trust and prosperity to the region and pave the way for a
brighter future for all Somalilanders.
