I.M Lewis research into the mass assimilation of Oromo
The Somali speaking British Anthropologist I.M. ving peoples lived among sedentary farming communities in the west of what was ‘British Somaliland Protectorate’. I.M Lewis states that one particular clan had incorporated Galla or Oromo speakers into their lineage or genealogy and that it was almost impossible to tell the difference.
Referring specifically to the Habar Awal Sacad Muse clan lineage who inhabit between Western Hargaisa and parts of Gabiley.
I.M Lewis research into the mass assimilation of Oromo communities by the Habar Awal tribe is further corroborated by the poems or gabay of the late poet Farah Nuur an Arab poet who lived between 1862-1932. Farah Nuur goes one step further and gives a chronological list of the incorporated communities and for some states which sub sub clan they have been absorbed into, he lists the below as the assimilated Oromo tribes that today exists within the wider Habar Awal Sacad Muse lineage.
1. IGO - an Oromo Akishe tribe (today reer Cabane Sacad Muse, Habar Awal)
2. Booran - from the Borana eastern Oromo name (today Ahmed Cabdale, Sacad Muse Habar Awal)
3. Agasaan Oromo Jaarso (Today Reer Gadiid, Sacad Muse, Habar Awal)
4. Qarab Oromo (Cabdale Sacad Muse Habar Awal).
Also listed by Farah Nuur as being Oromo assimilated into Sacad Muse Habar Awal but not stating the sub-sub clan he refers also to the below:
5. Cabaaska Ceelka laga Helay
6. ITO
7. UDUBCAD
8. WEETAYN
9. WARAN CAD
10. GARACATO
11. LAYIILE.
12. REER NOOLE
13. GARAAN
In part three of our ‘infiltration is real’ series we examine the notable and well known personalities of these Somalized Oromo communities who have been extremely vocal for their love of #Ethiopia and have been the most vocal for greater #Ethiopian Oromo influence on the #Somali peninsula and who have spearheaded the anti Somali agenda that has brainwashed generations of young Somalis into hating other Somalis.
