" Video taken at the scene showed a large plume of black smoke rising"
Emergency services officials in the South African coastal city of Durban are saying Friday a fire at an oil refinery injured seven people.

Video taken at the scene showed a large plume of black smoke rising into the sky from the refinery owned by the South African oil company Engen. Witnesses say they saw a massive fireball and heard an explosion.

Provincial emergency services spokesman Robert McKenzie told reporters the fire, which might have spread to a nearby apartment building, has been brought under control and the injured were in stable condition. Authorities haven't said what caused the fire.

The oil company says the refinery, located near the Durban Harbor, is the second biggest in the country and has a crude oil refining capacity of 120,000 barrels per day.
