Gebiley — Residents of Gebiley held a large rally to express their support for Somaliland’s pursuit of international recognition and President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro)’s visit to the United States.
Speaking at the rally, Gebiley Regional Governor Mahmoud Ali Suleiman (Ramaax) said the purpose of the gathering was to demonstrate to the international community the unity of Somaliland’s people in their pursuit of international recognition.
"Long live Somaliland. Today, we are here to show our support for the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro, and the delegation he leads, which is currently in New York, United States,” Ramaax said.
The governor said the rally in Gebiley was a message to the international community, demonstrating that Somaliland’s cause is not limited to an individual or a particular group, but is an issue supported by different sections of Somaliland’s society.
"This cause is not something sought by one person; it is a national cause on which the people of Somaliland are united. We must show the world how united we are,” Governor Ramaax said.
The rally comes as President Irro and his delegation are in New York, where they are holding meetings and engaging in diplomatic activities related to Somaliland’s relations with the international community.
